Inspiration Challenge

Every month Altenew hosts an Inspiration Challenge. When I saw these colors I was instantly taken back to my hometown in Autumn. Oh, how I love the change of seasons and the beauty and smell of the fallen leaves!

This led me to make a card and participate in the challenge, in which I’ve focused on the three colors above. Last month I participated and made a card using alcohol inks, then die cutting. That card was my first use of alcohol inks, as well as my first Craft-a-Flower. This month I ink blended, stenciled, letter pressed the stencil, die cut, and heat embossed.

I find the Inspiration Challenge to be exactly what it’s titled—inspiration and a challenge. I’m accustomed to making cards with the technique being the focus/”assignment.” With this “assignment” the focus is color. I look at the colors and think about what they inspire…then think I’d better hurry up and submit what I then make, lest somebody submits just like my creation. Then I find nobody did the same; we were all inspired in different ways!!

Products used: Neenah Desert Storm cardstock for the base; Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 80# for the panel; Altenew Copper embossing powder; Altenew Crisp Dye inks–colors Misty Moor, Yellow Ochre, Sicilian Amber, Almond Butter, Firefly, Just Green, Hunter Green, Grass Field, and Limestone; Grape Leaves Stamp and Die set; Stone wall Stencil; the Hugs sentiment from CYL Floral Acanthus; and the gold splatters from the Altenew Metallic Watercolor set.

Next I used some of the leftover leaves, embossed a panel of craft paper and did an ombre sentiment on a copper-embossed shadow. I used a stylus on the leaves to give them more dimension.
