AECP Level 2
Polychromatic

polychromatic | ˌpälēkrəˈmadik | adjective of two or more colors; multicolored. • Physics (of light or other radiation) of a number of wavelengths or frequencies.

This course is another in color, using different medias.

I’m not going into the details of techniques and materials used. In my final challenge for Level 2, I will demonstrate my ability to do that.

LESSON 1: White with Pops of Color

Stamping with Altenew Crisp Dye Inks

LESSON 2: Monochromatic Colors

Stamp the outline in color that matches the paper, then color with matching markers for a tone-on-tone look.

LESSON 3: Faux Hand watercolored Effect

I used my Zig Clean Color Markers to paint on a stamp, then misted the stamp with water and stamped it on some watercolor paper.

LESSON 4: Watercoloring with Similar Colors

This time, instead of using Zig Clean Color Markers, I used Altenew Watercolor Brush Markers – Tropical Fiesta Set.

LESSON 5: Pastel Polychromatics + Faux No Line Coloring

Nina-Marie started this lesson saying, “Pastels can be something that’s difficult to achieve, especially when using something so pigmented as Copic markers.” I tried using my Altenew Artist Markers but couldn’t achieve the pastel look. I switched to Copics…same thing. I stamped another image, hoping the larger petals might help…fail! Under materials used, it merely says Copic markers, not the colors used. Then I rewatched for the fourth time, actually zooming in on her list of colors used…nearly white! I can be such a dork!!!

I’ve ordered several pale colors so I can try again. Based on my results in photos 2, 3, and 4, I feel confident I can achieve this when my markers arrive.

LESSON 6: Watercolor Background + Coloring Vellum

I used the primary colors of ink to faux watercolor this vague rainbow-inspired image, then stamped the image and sentiment with pigment ink. I used the same inks to do the splatter. The little details I added were with alcohol markers, including on the vellum of the butterfly.

This was my last course for level 2…now for my level 2 “final exam!”
