This course was taught by Yana Smakula. In this she teaches several ways to use dies: using stamps with matching dies; stenciling with dies; negative die cutting; embossing with dies; inlaid die cutting; and finally, making a holiday card using faux letter press. I’ve done several of the techniques already so I chose to do inlaid die cutting.
I used the Vintage Roses Stamp and Dies Sets and the Super Script Stamp and Dies sets. Then I stamped the layered roses and scattered leaves. Next I prepped with an antistatic tool, stamped “celebrate” with VersaMark and used a black sparkle embossing powder and set/melted it with my heat tool. Later I then used the dies to cut out a couple of roses and also the “celebrate” sentiment, which also caught bits of a couple roses and leaves. I also cut from white cardstock six more roses and three more sentiments, and created stacks of these by adhering them together and then adhering the respective top layers. I used Gina K Designs black amalgam ink to stamp “happy birthday” (from the same sentiment set as “celebrate”). Finally, I adhered the stacks of die cut pieces in their respective positions and adhered this panel to a card base.
I love how this turned out and think it’ll make a perfect card for my mother, whose birthday is at the end of this month. Her grandmother used to call her, “my little rose,” so I tend to gravitate towards rose stamps!
Clean, simple, and pretty! Love the pop of black sentiment! Thank you for submitting your gorgeous work to the AECP assignment gallery.
