AECP Level 1 Celebration: Stencil Techniques

In the very first lesson of this course I learned how to double my stencil inventory. I enjoyed making and using these new stencils, and the resulting backgrounds were quick, easy and stunning.

First I used Altenew’s Circle Quilt Cover Die to cut Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 110# card stock twice. Then I adhered these together with Bearly Art Precision Craft Glue to make my stencil. Next I then used Altenew’s blending brushes with Crisp Dye Ink. The colors are: Deep Iris; Lavender Fields; Soft Lilac; Arctic; Honey Drizzle; Maple Yellow; Lemon Yellow; Citrus Burst. These are shown in the photo below.

The focal point features Altenew’s Breezy Bouquet Stamp Set, which I stamped with black ink and then colored with Altenew’s Woodless Watercolor Pencils. I love using these and I especially love the effects one can obtain. So I die cut and mounted this on two more die cut pieces of card stock to add dimension. Then I used the birthday sentiment from this set for the first card, and for the second card I used the “thanks” die from the Craft Your Life Project Kit: Seasonal Blooms. I didn’t have cardstock to match so I used a few of my woodless watercolor pencils to make the color I wanted. Finally I used craft glue to adhere it all to the card base of Classic Crest Solar White 110# cardstock.
