I was inspired by many of the lessons in this course. As I’d never done faux letterpress before, I chose this technique. I drew up many designs and made many presses/stamps of varying thicknesses of Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 110# card stock and stamped several styles on Canson Cold Press 140# watercolor paper. Sometimes I sprayed with water, sometimes I didn’t. I learned that when I passed this thru my die cutter more than once, the watercolor paper split, even with decreasing the layers of card stock for the “stamps” from three to two and spraying water beforehand. I finally settled with two layers of card stock and vellum as my stamps and watercolor paper, spray the back of the watercolor paper and pass thru the die cut machine only once. I used Altenew’s Leaf Mix Die Set, Altenew’s Fancy Thanks Die, and Altenew’s Crisp Dye Inks in Rouge, Minty Mint and Mango Smoothie. I mounted this on the same Neenah card stock, on which I had applied to the front, direct to paper, the Rouge ink. I love how clean and simple this card turned out!!
I made a couple more cards, changing the position of the stamps. I also ink blended the edges of the card base with the other colors of ink used.
These look fun!! I love the soft colours. Thank you so much for submitting your wonderful work to the AECP assignment gallery.
