AECP Level 1 Let it Shine

In the Let it Shine course I learned a lot about using glitter, embossing powder, foils, metallic paper and other techniques to add shine to my projects. I love having shine and shimmer on my cards!

I chose to use Altenew’s “Painted Poppy” stamp set outline, VersaMark ink and Altenew’s Rose Gold embossing powder on vellum. I love how this particular vellum adds some sheen to the cards. I used a couple Copic markers (see below for all colors used today) on the back side of the vellum and carefully applied very thin strips of foam tape to the back of the vellum to apply it to a strip of card stock, which I’d already stamped with Altenew’s Rustic Linen stamp and Polar Bear Crisp Dye Ink and edged with additional Altenew Rose Gold embossing Powder. Next I used liquid glue to adhere this to the card base, which I’d edged with the same Polar Bear Crisp Dye ink.

For my next card, I used a lighter colored Copic marker to color some card stock to match the poppy, and used a lighter colored Copic marker to match the leaf and poppy bud, cut a strip of green and die cut an Altenew “Handwritten Hello Die” from the now-pink card stock. I heat embossed clear over it to give it a little more shine. I cut the shadow from mat finish gold card stock, adhered the sentiment to it’s shadow and adhered this to the green strip which was then adhered with foam tape to the card front, and onto the card base.

For the third card I skipped the strip of card stock, and also used two stacks of card stock instead of foam. I found die cutting and layering card stock to be effective and less tedious than using foam tape.

I love the layering and shine and tying the gold together on the card stock, the vellum and the shadow of the sentiment. I also love how rough and artistic the gold edging on the card stock is, right beside the stamped imperfect-linen-look stamped card stock. I really enjoyed creating these cards!

The Copic markers I used were: RV17; RV29; R37; G07; G17 and G99.
